Severe Weather Update - NE Colorado / Western Kansas / NW Oklahoma

As you can see by examining the above radar image just taken from the Goodland, KS area radar, thunderstorms are forming over northeast Colorado at the nose of a strong upper level weather disturbance.  Tornado warnings are currently in effect for this activity over Kit Carson county.  Individual thunderstorms are moving Northwest at 25 mph (around an area of low pressure), while the overall area itself is migrating slowly Eastward.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for this region until 1am CDT:

Further South, you can see an isolated thunderstorm developing along the dryline in the vicinity of Dodge City.  This signals that the atmosphere over southwest Kansas is recovering from earlier thunderstorm activity.

The region of southwest Kansas into northwest Oklahoma will need to be closely monitored for additional development over the next few hours.  Large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible with any storms that form, organize and mature across this region.
